Sagrantino de Montefalco’08

Sagrantino de Montefalco’08
100% Sagrantino grapes. Plani Arche's dark ruby red Sagrantino is made from grapes picked in early October. It matures in oak barrels for 18-24 months, depending on the vintage, and is marked by flavors of fruit and wood smoke. Pair with red meet and mature cheeses.

About the Vineyards

Cantina Plani Arche is a six hectare vineyard operated by Roberto Di Filippo and his wife Elena, who both came from several generations of winemakers. The pair seeks to dispel the hedonistic, luxurious myth of wine, and instead emphasize the often-overlooked work and choices that winemakers put into creating a balanced bottle of wine.
  • Fact 1:

Only indigenous grapes, grown in clay and limestone soils, which include Grechetto, Sangiovese, Barbera, and Sagrantino.

  • Fact 2:

The vineyard is biodynamic, and Roberto uses three horses and a herd of geese to tend to his vines in lieu of machinery or pesticides.

  • Fact 3:

All wines are made with certified organic grapes.
