Montefalco Rosso DOC 2006

Montefalco Rosso DOC 2006
60% Sangiovese, 25% Barbera, and 15% Sagrantino. This is not Sagrantino's younger brother; it is a flavorful and age worthy wine in its own right, with great dignity and much potential. The fusion of traditional grapes, Sangiovese and Sagrantino - along with the precious input of Barbera, ensure this wine has the makings of a future Montefalco classic. This garnet red wine retains the structure and sweetness of red fruit without losing its freshness, and pairs well with poultry, red meat, and semi-aged cheeses.

About the Vineyards

Montefalco’s Tabarrini family has produced wine for more than four generations, but it was not until the 1990s when Giampolo Tabarrini’s business enthusiasm met his family’s love of wine. With pride in the local Sagrantino grape, the Tabarrinis continue to produce their signature bottles, each of which is imbued with their respect for the land and for the patience required to produce outstanding wine.
  • Fact 1:

11 out of the vineyard's 22 hectares are dedicated to the Sagrantino grape.

  • Fact 2:

He produces the top 3 wines in the region and is called "The Rising Star of Umbria."

  • Fact 3:

Tabarrini is continually well rated for his single-vineyard Sagrantino’s by Gambero Rosso, The Wine Advocate, and most recently, Wine Spectator.
