Time at La Fattoria del Gelso with Bill and Suzy is one excellent adventure!
It's hard to say what is the 'best' part of a week at La Fattoria del Gelso with Bill and Suzy. The villa itself is inviting, comfortable, and beautifully filled with locally made linens and pottery that speak of tours to come. The food is plentiful and delicious whether being made by MariaPia or by some of the many chefs visiting at the villa or at their own restaurants. Often you get a chance to be in the cucina working alongside the chefs - a treat for any foodie. The towns visited and the countryside are breathtaking. Wendy and Marco keep everything running smoothly. But really the best part of the week is the friendships made in an easy, relaxed and oh-so-fun time! Although not knowing anyone in the group except Bill and Suzy, I left with new friends both from the home and Italy. Umbria may be the green heart of Italy but Bill and Suzy are the heart of an excellent adventure there.

This was the most unique experience!
I've traveled many times. This was the most unique experience. It was better than my expectations. Bill and Suzy were wonderful. It was like visiting old friends who really wanted us to have a wonderful time. And we did!

    Fabulous in every way!
This had to be the BEST trip I have ever taken! The Villa was wonderful, Marco was extremely helpful and very personable. Each side trip was better than the one before. I would take this trip over and over if I could and look forward to planning my next trip!

    Unforgettable!
One if the most amazing trips I have ever been on! The tours were fabulous as well as the accommodations and the hospitality. Thank you Marco for making us feel so welcome and for the delicious meals! Italy at it's finest! Thanks again Suzy and Bill.

    best in italia
the competitive edge of la fattoria is the personal guidance and the intermingling of italians with the tourists. you get a real italian experience, rather than looking at it from the outside. and that means fabulous food, wine, laughs, parties...and seeing the incomparable sights (assisi, spoleto, etc.). Most tellingly, you visit with the people who bring you the truffles, wines, linens, cheeses, ceramics that make today's italy what it is.

    Top of my Bucket List
We planned our stay at La Fattoria del Gelso more than a year ago. We counted down the days until Sept. 5, 2015. Our group consisted of cousins and friends who have traveled together many times. The Villa did not disappoint, except for one aspect. There was a problem with the annex, but Suzy immediately granted a rebate for the problem and our group adjusted. That done, our stay was EXCEPTIONAL! The villa was lovely and spacious. The food provided by Antonio, Peppa and Marco - 3 meals in all - was authentic, fresh, local and delicious. Our tours - Truffle hunt, dinner at Simone's in Bevagna, etc - were memorable and reasonably priced. Marco attended to us twice daily; he helped with directions, reservations, house details, Italian customs, etc. He's the Best! There were many highlights, but for me, the most memorable day was when 21 Italian relatives from Ravenna came for dinner. We were lucky, too, to be there for the Cipolla di Cannara (the Onion Fest) when 10,000 people converged into Cannara to celebrate its primary crop. It was great fun to visit the food, wine and merchant booths. The villa is in a great location. We went to Assisi, biked to the small villages, walked into town for breakfast, coffee or dinner often. Go - Enjoy - You'll love it!
