A charming 19th century vineyard

The Scacciadiavoli winery was founded in 1884 when Prince Boncompagni-Ludovisi left Rome to dedicate himself to the art of wine production. The winery’s name, meaning “cast out the devils”, comes from a 19th century exorcist who lived in a small neighboring village and used wines used while performing exorcism rituals. Since then, the winery has undergone many architectural and structural changes and was renovated in 2000. At an altitude of about 400 meters, the vineyard spreads across 35 hectares of land in the heart of the Montefalco region. The Scacciadiavoli winery is best know for its production of the Montefalco Sagrantino, MontefalcoRosso, and Grechetto wines.
