Via Umbria Teaches You the Secrets of Summer Entertaining

Washington, D.C. – Looking to be the hit of your next block party, backyard barbecue, or family get-together? Via Umbria’s got you covered. Visit Via Umbria any Wednesday night this summer and learn tips, tricks, and recipes for creating the ultimate outdoor party. Our Wednesday Demonstration Series will feature a unique combination of meats, cheeses, wines, and cocktails each week and will explore ideas about pairings preparations, and plating perfect for entertaining and designed to make you look like a Martha Stewart without breaking a sweat. Classes begin at 7:30pm and cost $25 per person. Reservations are required as space is limited. 

Wednesday, July 13 features a class on Rubs and Marinades. Executive Chef Johanna Hellrigl and Via Umbria Butcher Scott Weiss will team up to teach guests the secrets of creating the perfect rubs and marinades for their next backyard barbecue. Guests will learn the theories behind flavor combinations, the differences between dry rubs and marinades, and the secrets to grilling or roasting your favorite cut of meat as they taste a few house favorites. 

What could be a more classic pairing than wine and cheese? On Wednesday, July 20 spend an evening with Via Umbria’s Cheesemonger and Wine Experts as they discuss (and you enjoy) several of their favorite Wine and Cheese Pairings. Discover the secrets to creating the perfect pairing, and how to select the right cheeses and wines for every occasion as you enjoy some of our Cheesemonger’s favorite summer cheeses paired with Italian wines from Via Umbria’s unique and unmatched collection of affordably priced wines.

On Wednesday, July 27, Via Umbria presents Cocktails and Charcuterie.  Guests will enter a new frontier, exploring flavor combinations of specialty cocktails created by Cocktail Director Matt Demma alongside a selection of Butcher Scott Weiss’s more unique and interesting cured meats. Join in the conversation with our experienced team as they reveal the secrets to selecting the perfect charcuterie combination for every occasion, tips for creating the ultimate cocktail, and ways to use beverage pairings to enhance the flavors of your foods.
